Placing your trust in another person is exceptionally vulnerable. I’m certain you’ve had your own lessons in life. When we trust another person we wholeheartedly give of ourselves. We may trust a person, people, an organization or group. In the event you’ve had a poor experience, it’s likely you’ve been hurt. You may be forgiving and trust them again or you may decide to move on with your life.
In my personal experience it’s always been best that I move on after the trust has been broken. Of course, I’ve been very forgiving, allowed a person back into my life, only to be disappointed because he/she simply cannot control their poor behavior. It may sound as though my feelings have been recently hurt… by all means… not at all. However, I’ve had to learn some tough lessons. I’m thankful I know how to move forward.
This leads me to share some valuable characteristics a trustworthy person will likely possess.
Authenticity. They are true to who they are and honest with you.
Consistency. They do what they say and say what they mean.
Integrity. They do good even when nobody is watching.
Compassionate. They place themselves in another’s shoes and considers their feelings.
Kindness. They show kindness when a friend truly needs their help.
Resourceful. They simply figure it out. They love too learn. They love to inspire others.
Connect with Others. They align themselves with like-minded people. They appreciate the knowledge of others.
Humble. They are willing to help others before helping themselves.
Available. They are there for people. Love to help. They will go out of their way to help.
You may struggle because you have a low propensity to trusting others, you have unrealistic expectations or past hurts hold you back from trusting people.
Trust me… it takes a lot valuable lessons to reach the other side. You’ll learn if you haven’t already) to place your trust in the people who value you as a person.
Be mindful, be alert, be selective… it’s ok… because you don’t owe anyone an explanation. It’s your feelings that are on the line. However, I trust you’ll make the right decisions for you.
